Common Uses
Package Considerations Before Ordering
Commercial steel packages must reflect the occupancy and the operation. Retail, offices and mixed-use projects need more than an exterior shell description to establish a reliable scope.
Occupancy and design-team inputs
Confirm use, access, circulation, egress and accessibility with the appropriate design professionals and jurisdiction. MBR coordinates steel-package inputs; an ADA-compliant building or permit approval is not guaranteed by purchasing a shell.
Building configuration
Define required spans, column locations, eave height, roof pitch, facade and major openings. Architectural treatments and utility penetrations need manufacturer coordination rather than being assumed standard features.
Comparable budget scope
Separate the material package from erection, foundation, site work, utilities, MEP and interior construction. Identify envelope requirements and who supplies doors and windows. Ask for written inclusions, exclusions and quote conditions before comparing proposals.
Approval and execution handoff
Coordinate building-system documents, foundation reactions, approval milestones and delivery readiness. Qualified professionals remain responsible for site design and code decisions; separately engaged contractors remain responsible for their construction work.
Plan the Complete Building Scope
Use these guides to identify package inclusions, professional dependencies and separately contracted work. MBR can review your requirements before procurement; no construction scope is assumed included.
