Insulation matters even in unconditioned buildings — it controls condensation, reduces noise, and dramatically improves comfort.

R-Values by Climate

Cold climates: R-19 to R-30 in walls, R-30 to R-49 in roof. Mild climates: R-13 to R-19 walls, R-19 to R-30 roof.

Fiberglass blanket (WMP-VR): The most common and cost-effective. Includes a vapor-retarder facing.
Spray foam: Highest performance, controls air infiltration. Best for conditioned spaces.
Rigid board: Good for retrofits and specific zones.

Essential in any climate. Always face the warm side (interior in cold climates, exterior in hot/humid).

In a conditioned commercial building, insulation typically pays for itself in 3–5 years through reduced HVAC costs.
